Prowlarr Integration¶
Prowlarr aggregates torrent and Usenet indexers and feeds search results to MediaFusion. It is the recommended way to get broad torrent coverage.
How it works¶
MediaFusion queries Prowlarr when:
- A stream is requested and live search is enabled (PROWLARR_LIVE_TITLE_SEARCH=true)
- The background scheduler runs a periodic re-search for cached titles
Prowlarr in turn queries all configured indexers and returns torrent results.
Setup with Docker Compose¶
The Docker Compose stack includes Prowlarr out of the box. Run the setup script to configure it:
This script:
- Sets a random PROWLARR_API_KEY in your .env
- Adds a set of tested public trackers to Prowlarr
Manual Prowlarr setup¶
If Prowlarr is running separately (not in the Docker Compose stack):
- Open Prowlarr at
http://your-prowlarr-host:9696 - Go to Settings → General and copy your API key
- Set in your MediaFusion
.env:
Adding indexers¶
Visit http://localhost:9696 (or your Prowlarr URL) → Indexers → Add Indexer to add more trackers.
Popular public trackers are free to add. Private trackers require an account on each site.

Using MediaFusion as a Torznab indexer in Radarr/Sonarr¶
MediaFusion exposes a native Torznab API that Radarr, Sonarr, and Prowlarr can use as an indexer.
Add https://your-mediafusion-instance/torznab as a custom Torznab indexer in Prowlarr (or directly in Radarr/Sonarr).
Correcting regional series mismatches¶
Regional Bigg Boss editions are separate series: Bigg Boss Tamil
uses tt7084920, while Bigg Boss Telugu uses tt7805494.
MediaFusion preserves an edition such as (Tamil) or (Telugu) in release titles when matching
metadata. TMDB results whose title is just “Bigg Boss” are qualified using their original language.
Country editions are also preserved across series, including Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother,
The Office, Survivor, and MasterChef. Country names and codes are treated as aliases, such as
UK/GB, US/USA, and Australia/AU. Conflicting editions are excluded from both live results
and fuzzy media matching. A country explicitly requested in a search can be added to an otherwise
unqualified TMDB title when its single origin country agrees. A shared language such as English
does not establish which country edition it is; ambiguous results without country evidence are skipped.
Audio-language tags on other shows, such as Loki (Tamil), remain audio metadata.
If an existing torrent has already been assigned to the wrong show, open its content detail page in MediaFusion and use the stream linking dialog. Choose Replace Link, select the correct series (or search by its IMDb ID), and provide the season/episode mapping when needed. Submit the correction; it is applied immediately if auto-approved, otherwise a moderator must approve it. Replacing a link removes the wrong association; adding another link leaves both associations.
The IMDb attribute in MediaFusion's Torznab feed comes from those stored media links. Restarting or reinstalling the addon does not repair existing links. If another indexer's feed supplies the wrong IMDb attribute, that feed also needs correction at its source.
